A Perfect Day at Zephyr Cove

Updated: Aug 5, 2019

Ah, beautiful Zephyr Cove. One of our very favorite shores in Lake Tahoe! I'm excited to share with you a bit about our very first visit there and why we love it so much!

Aviah enjoying the beautiful rolling waves.

Short disclaimer: Zephyr Cove has many beaches and entrance points. This post is about just one area that we loved!

Those of us who frequent the stunning shores of Lake Tahoe know that it's beauty is nothing short of magical. Our first visit to beautiful Zephyr Cove did not disappoint! Despite the trademark chilly water, Zephyr Cove is a perfect beach for kids to splash around in and explore the many "rock islands," as my kiddos like to call them!

The perfect place to wade around and keep cool.

One of our favorite things about this beach was that the water remained shallow enough to wade in and explore, even far from the shore! We loved climbing all over this natural playground.

Feeling like a mermaid.

How about that gorgeous water? Honestly this is one of our (and everyone's, I think) favorite things about Lake Tahoe beaches. It's also why we proudly sport a "Keep Lake Tahoe Blue" sticker on our vehicle. This amazing water is so worth preserving!

Looks like a tropical oasis, feels like the North Pole... Nate loved it lol.

You can see straight through to the bottom! Zephyr Cover was the perfect place to test out our new inflatable boat. It was so fun to explore the area! The kids loved paddling and steering (and its a great way to use up all that energy)!

Lana got an amazing workout in... she fell asleep in the boat by the time we got back to shore!

If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive inflatable boat that's durable and easy to inflate and deflate, I definitely recommend checking out the Intex Excursion 5. You can find it on Amazon here.

Our awesome adventurers checking out the horizon.

It was our first day taking our little boat out and we had a ton of fun! I like that it has holders for the oars so that we could paddle out and then chill for a bit while the waves carried us back in.

Totally pretending we're on a deserted island...

After such an amazing day, I knew our family would be visiting Zephyr Cove many times during our future Lake Tahoe visits! Wonderful local family adventure and beautiful views...definitely the makings of one amazing day!
